Dedicated to the Discovery of Excellence in each child.
Open Evening
Fletewood School
Open Evening
Wednesday 3rd October 5:30pm
Please join us on Wednesday 3rd October to find out more about our school. You will have the opportunity to meet all of the teachers and some of our students, too. You will be able to hear testimonies from some of our ex-pupils who have gone on to a range of schools in the city, including all three of the grammar schools.
Fletewood School has many things to offer your child:
Small class sizes - we have an average of 16 children in all of our KS1 and KS2 classes.
We are able to boast great ICT facilities, including an iPad for each individual child to access in Years 1 to 4 and a laptop for each child in Years 5 and 6.
Low fees - Our fees are currently £1525 per term. We are able to keep our fees so low because of the generous contribution we receive from the Seventh-day Adventist church which subsidises fees for all children in the school, regardless of faith.
We have recently been developing our playground, increasing its size, and are now looking forward to resourcing it to make it an even more exciting place for the children to play.
We have good links with the local community including:
Plymouth University - where we regularly go to use their sports facilities and access the workshops they offer primary schools;
Drake Circus Apple Store - where we attend workshops on developing further the children's knowledge and understanding of ICT;
Vale Lodge Nursing Home - where we perform with the school choir at least twice a year;
Shekinah - a charity for which we collect produce every Harvest and even raised over £1,600 for in 2016 - an astonishing achievement for such a small school!
We provide a range of after school clubs, including, but not limited to, cookery, mindfulness, Chinese, choir, sports, board games. We also provide after school care until 5pm at a small cost of £1.50 per half hour for all children who require it.
We include a discount for parents with more than one child attending the school.
We are proud of our diverse cultural backgrounds and annually get together to celebrate Chinese New Year with our parents cooking, providing talks and giving out lucky money envelopes to all of the children.
Our PTFA regularly engage with the school to help raise funds, including hosting school dinners periodically.
We have already gained a bronze award in the Healthy Child Quality Mark and are well on our way to obtaining the silver and then the gold!
We offer additional 11+ tutoring to all Year 5 children wishing to take the exam, at no additional cost.
We offer a wide variety of trips, including an annual residential for Years 5 and 6 to Chapel Porth, a camp-site owned by the Seventh-day Adventist church.
Sports Days are a family affair, when we all take a trip on the Cremyll ferry to Mount Edgcumbe and enjoy games, picnics, barbecues, ice-creams and each other's company.
We invite local artists, local authors, such as Simon James, and more to come and talk to the children to further enrich their education.
Arguably the thing we are known most for is the family atmosphere we create from having such a small school. All parents, children and staff are made to feel welcome and are treated as we would our own family - fairly, consistently and honestly. We teach our children Christian morals of respect, tolerance and love through our actions and through assemblies and links with our local Seventh-day Adventist church.
If you would like to arrange a viewing separately from the Open Evening, please use our ‘Contact Us’ form on the website or phone (01752) 663782 to make an appointment. We look forward to welcoming you to our school and hope to see you soon.
